Eternal Love of Dream – Unhelpful Recap (Episode 9)

This episode introduces the beginning of Donghua’s trial, which I sincerely hope will not be as draggy and full of what-on-earth misunderstandings as in the last two Peach Blossom dramas.

At this point in the immortal world, Donghua is being discussed by Zheyan and Bai Zhen as Fengjiu’s first crush because apparently more than a hundred years have passed since Fengjiu left Donghua those burnt potatoes and left the Heavenly Palace.

The girl herself is still trying hard to forget him. At one point, Fengjiu said to her friend she wishes Donghua was not so kind and gentle so that he wouldn’t be pursued by so many women, that way she could be the only one who would understand and was willing to love him.

Childish, but relatable. Who hasn’t, in their life, wished that the handsome jerk they have a crush on is a Prince Charming in disguise, waiting to be tamed and loved? Just don’t take it too far, OK, Fengjiu? Bella Swan should be able to tell you what happens if you do (although she might say it in form of encouragement).

Fengjiu also scares away all of her suitors sent by her fox aunts.

Side note: they really should have stuck with the coral dress in Ten Miles for Fengjiu.

Now, to Donghua — the man’s health has been declining and he decides that the quickest way to regain his power is to undergo a mortal trial — an experience where immortals endure hardships in the mortal land and earn cultivation and status as a result — which, as we all know, is his subtle way of saying he needs a vacation somewhere where he can choose his own dates without consequences.

As Donghua wishes, he is born into a royal family in the mortal world as a prince.

Back at home, Chengyu, who arm-twists the Star Lord into telling her about Donghua’s business, informs Fengjiu that now is her chance to repay her debt.

Fengjiu wholeheartedly agrees with this suggestion and she starts snooping around the highly secured archive where only Star Lords and similar officials are allowed to enter. In the end she successfully spots a scroll that is placed out in the open with Donghua’s name clearly engraved on an attached tag.

Great system to store classified information.

But the Star Lord catches Fengjiu right there and gives her a patient lecture about how mortal trials work — no interference, no magic, etc.

Basically, Fengjiu wants to watch over Donghua and promises not to interfere with his mortal life — you know, the same kind of promise Jiuchen made before going down to date Lingxi and put the whole world in peril —  the Star Lord points out that Fengjiu would not be able to do so if she witnessed the mortal Donghua in life-and-death situations and would consequently mess up his trial.

I mean… I sympathize with you, Fengjiu, but now is not a good time to see Donghua, OK? I’d advice you to wait until he gets his previous hair color and styling back.

Anyway, mortal trial, here we go.

Which is better?

  1. Both mortal styles for DH are not great… that man looks best in white hair lol

      Yes, agreed 😀
Although, Ten Miles does have slightly better lighting.

  2. Ten Miles look better on him.

However, haha did you expect the mortal realm in eternal love of dreams to be better or less filler than love and destiny or ten miles?
The whole essence of this couple, even in their own drama, is to be fillers.

Well, I did expect them to learn from the other two’s mistakes. Guess they didn’t see dragginess as a mistake😂
