Eternal Love of Dream – Unhelpful Recap (Episode 8)

 

So the good thing is: Fengjiu is back to school, doing her own thing, and so far has become a lot more lovable than her aunt, who – by this point of her own drama – is already walking around like she actually fought for leadership in her kingdom. 

Now, about this episode:

Donghua is informed that his precious pet fox has gone missing, and his reaction can’t be any more Donghua-like:

Zheyan makes up for his bizarre mannerism by helping Fengjiu take revenge on the Demon Lord who tricked her into cutting her tail. 

Afterwards, Donghua accesses his… heavenly security cameras to look for his fox, giving no hints whether he knows the fox is Fengjiu. During his search, he comes across Fengjiu and A-li skipping out of the Fox Cave for a stroll, but pays them no regard yet.

So… does that mean Donghua has those cameras installed everywhere in… EVERYWHERE?

Well, I guess we mortals can only hope he doesn’t turn this into his own free and unlimited streaming service.  

Meanwhile, this confusing duo continues to be… pretty confusing.

Jiheng (right) keeps treating Minsu like a guy she as a crush on (if that’s not the case, then maybe it’s just me misinterpreting the actress) and the makeup team just doesn’t make it easy for the audience to get on board with her assumption. In fact, I would say Minsu makes a believable teenage sister of Jiheng.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter anymore because Jiheng’s brother catches up with them and makes an attempt to bring her home.

But because are too rough in their approach, it ends up with Minsu having to sacrifice herself to plead for Jiheng’s freedom and wellbeing. Before Minsu’s death, though, it is revealed that she and Jiheng’s brother have had a thing for each other all along. 

Now that is a whole new level of weird. 

Heartbroken, Jiheng wants to go look for Donghua to heal her friend. 

All right, look, Donghua is a busy man with a limited amount of energy to spare even if it looks like all he does is fish; there’s only so much you can do by sitting behind someone and slap your palms on their back. You may want to look for a real doctor instead, princess!

But it is too late, of course. Minsu dies and Jiheng jumps off a cliff as her brother acts like there’s no way he can stop her:

Really, dude? Did you forget that you people can fly or are you letting her go on purpose?

In the Heaven Palace, Donghua and the Heavenly Lord decide that Zhihe should be exiled.

Of course, this might lead to Zhihe learning dark magic, joining force with evil people and coming back to threaten the safety of the whole world, just like the last two female villains in similar Peach Blossoms universes have done. But if there’s one thing you can always count on the men of Peach Blossoms dramas to do, it is that they never learn. 

A while later, Donghua attempts to contain the sealed Demon Goddess by himself and is severely injured; which is a good thing, if you think about it, because now Yehua is not so alone in his suicidal plans anymore.
