Not much happens in this episode. Well, there is — in truth — a good deal of stuff, just not important stuff.
We’re taken to a war scene in the beginning and for the first time in his life, Donghua’s face gets dirty.
He needs to do this more frequently.
Fengjiu, having come to the mortal land right at this time, is unable to contain herself when she sees Donghua surrounded and decides to join the battle to save his (mortal) life.
Upon seeing Fengjiu’s extremely… masculine features, Donghua immediately asks for her name, which she gave him: Xiao Jiu (Little Jiu). But there is no time for any other information to be exchanged.
When the battle is over (oh, yeah, Donghua’s side wins, if anyone wonders), Donghua expresses the wish to find the… “guy” who has saved him during that critical moment on the battlefield. They even make a nice sketch of her.
Back at home, Fengjiu becomes sick due to her breaking the rule and interfering in the mortal land, so she does what immortals in these dramas usually do: recovering, spitting blood and promising herself she will make the exact same mistake next time.
In the mortal land again – the Emperor, aka Donghua’s dad, is getting weaker and… erm… I think he dies in this episode? (What?? I did say these recaps are unhelpful.)
Anyway, he must have died because our Donghua is crowned the new Emperor near the end. But before that, he showed Donghua a national treasure — a glowing green stone — and transferred the privilege and responsibility of protecting it to Donghua.
It’s an item with a background way too complicated to explain, just take my word for it that it’s powerful, OK?
At the same time, the Demon villain who saved Jiheng has come up with the most unappealing plan ever to steal this same stone. He employs Jiheng too while lying to her about his intention, of course.
They both travel to the mortal realm and reside at a mortal kingdom to put their plan in action. There, Jiheng meets a palace maid that looks exactly like Minsu.
Aaand… the awkwardness continues.
