EPISODE 13
Time to go down the mortal realm.
Husui helps Qingheng escape from his palace so he can go with Yetan. Our gang meet in the mortal realm — Yetan, Manman, Qingheng, Princess Ziwu, and Dilanjue the puppy prince. This is also the first time Dilanjue meets Ziwu in his human form.
Ziwu says Dilanjue’s smell reminds her of her lost puppy, whom she loved very much. A nice way to say that someone smells like a dog.
CUTE is really the summative word for the Ziwu and Dilanjue pairing. As cute as it is for a cute girl to possibly find out that she put you in a diaper while you were a puppy trying to break into her house.
But before the gang can find Youqin, there’s something else they need to take care of first: their stomachs. They are all hungry and without any money. They can’t use magic too much, either, because that would enable the Heaven King to trace them.
But luck finds them pretty fast. That night, inside an old temple, they overhear some bandits saying that there’s a big prize for anyone who can kill a Fire Demon that has been terrorizing a village nearby. With that money, they can buy all the dumplings they want.
Off to the Demon’s lair they go. The villagers warn them that no one has ever come back from that place in one piece, but our heroes are unstoppable. Why, dumplings and hotpots and roasted ribs are waiting for them at the end of the mission.
This Demon lives in a stone hut. Dilanjue prepares a bomb that has a high chance of killing this Demon before he could attack them. But as the Demon walks out, everyone’s jaw drops. Yetan stops Dilanjue from throwing that bomb, making it fly out of his hand and drop to the ground.
Magic glowing bombs don’t grow on trees, Yetan, sheesh.
What’s going on? The Fire Demon is Youqin! The first soul piece they have been looking for. In a whole new fashion. Oh no, how can Yetan make this man love her without being roasted? Literally.
I love that the gang is just standing there discussing their next move while FIRE is just being blown in all directions 10 feet behind. They end up staying at a nearby abandoned house and Yetan asks Manman for her fireproof cloth to use as a way to get close to Fire Demon Youqin.
At the Void Realm, people are dealing with the aftermath of a lost battle. Qingkui’s maid begs Qingkui to save her father who got injured. No problem, Qingkui agrees to do it.
Then, a soldier comes to Qingkui and begs her to save his brother-in-arms. Okay, just one more person.
But they don’t stop there. Save my brother, save my father, save my friend, save my cousin. Soon, Qingkui’s place becomes a clinic and now her healing skills are no longer a secret.
Chaofeng and Haichao try everything they can to contain the crowd — bribing, blackmailing, begging, etc. — but there isn’t much they do once the entire army knows.
Chaofeng sure isn’t going to stop Qingkui from doing the only thing she enjoys in this dark realm, so he changes his tactic. If we can’t control the secret, then let’s blow it up to the max, Chaofeng suggests. Who knows, Qingkui might even be able to open an apothecary and earn money.
