The gang is a bit down because their business on the street was thwarted by the Fish Net official appearance, but they remain optimistic.
In the palace, the emperor has some quiet reflection time, he’s starting to realize that he has wronged Ziwei big time by insulting her mom. He visits Shufang Palace and the servants there don’t even try to hide the fact that they miss their mistresses.
While the emperor has some fun listening to the Shufang people’s stories about how Xiaoyanzi is crap at poetry, the empress is overjoyed to hear that Ziwei and the gang have been seriously injured. Those assassins in black were sent by her. *fakes surprised gasp*
Too bad her information is outdated.
Double bad: her little son is just outside their door eavesdropping on her and Nanny Rong.
The kid was going to run to the emperor to tell on them but Nanny Rong manages to convince him that his mom is actually just sending people out to give Xiaoyanzi and Ziwei hugs and flowers.
Back to the gang. They arrive at the next city and decide to take a break and watch a street acrobatic performance.
But you know these guys, they never JUST watch something.
It turns out: the little girl who does these acrobatic stunts has been abused and starved by her boss. She doesn’t look starved but I’ll take her word for it.
When the man starts beating her for messing up a performance, the gang jump in to rescue her and kick the bad guy back and forth like a tennis ball. Which is good.
The kid is also pretty smart, she explains her situation right away and begs them to save her. Also very good.
What’s not good is what Xiaoyanzi decides to do afterwards. She insists on bringing the child along despite everyone’s warning that it isn’t a good idea.
The rest of them want to find the little girl a home but Xiaoyanzi is like: she’s just like me! So I’m keeping her! Wahh!
When Yongqi tries to take some sense into Xiaoyanzi, she dismisses him, thinking that he will never be able to sympathize with people less fortunate than him.
Erkang too tries to explain that they can’t even take care of themselves right now, so how can they take care of a child? Not to mention those surprised visits by assassins every other day.
Ziwei kind of silently agrees with the guys, but Xiaoyanzi gets mad right away and threatens to leave if she doesn’t get her way.
Xiaojian is then like: ok ok, bring the kid along, we’ll starve together.
Then Xiaoyanzi is like: you’re the best-est of the best, Xiaojian!
And Yongqi is like: FINE, nobody is leaving, because I’m leaving!
Then it kind of becomes a fight of who’s leaving between Xiaojian and Yongqi.
Well, it’s gotten to the point where even Vicky Zhao can’t cover for Xiaoyanzi’s ridiculousness anymore. Girllll, what are you doing?
Also, that is a lot of spoiling from Xiaojian towards Xiaoyanzi. You sure you’re not hiding something, flute man?
Xiaoyanzi is not helping the situation — not that she does lately. She cries and gives everyone the silent treatment when Xiaojian says goodbye. I love Xiaoyanzi as much as the next person, but this episode just makes it look like she’s not mature enough to be in a relationship. She keeps treating Yongqi like he’s a doormat and expects him to obey her every whim. Even the kid they just adopted is more perceptive than her.
Yongqi, on the other hand, keeps mistaking her childish tantrums for romantic intentions towards Xiaojian.
This time, Ziwei and Erkang are like: nope, we’re staying out.
