Left with no choice, Orchid agrees to let Devy take her back to his place. They both ride on Devy’s assistant, who is a giant black dragon with whiskers that resemble bent wires.
Still a better-looking black dragon than Yehua.
Remember? It literally looks like they just filmed some kid’s plastic figurine.
(No one beats Yehua in his human form, though.)
Anyway.
Devy reunites with his court officials. They are all glad to see him back and take turns to show their reverence. One person isn’t too happy though: Devy’s younger brother Xunfeng.
Finally, front hair strands styling that looks OK.
They exchange some spiteful remarks. Xunfeng reminds Devy that their people still await Devy’s explanation about his last failure. Devy shrugs it off and says that what he does is his own business. Which is usually the first sign of a male lead who has no idea what he’s doing.
Back at the Heaven Palace, the Heaven Lord isn’t happy. Changheng requests to go after Devy himself. The Heaven Lord reprimands him for being rash, too hasty to put himself in danger and everything. He asks whether Changheng truly wants to capture Devy, or if he cares more about rescuing a certain someone.
Seeing the Lord’s super annoyed face, Changheng apologizes, but it is too late. The Heaven Lord orders him to stay put and not engage in anything whatsoever unless with permission. Are you sure it’s a good idea to ground the leader of your armies while the enemy is stirring?
At Devy’s place, Orchid is being treated like a squishy toy. The maids and ladies in waiting take turns pinching her cheeks and commenting on her looks. They don’t think she is their lord’s type, though.
Orchid tries to escape a few times but all in vain. Devy, on the other hand, has a surprise for her. He takes her to a place which he has made to look exactly like her home in the Heaven, hoping that now she can finally focus on repairing that Destiny Book.
Orchid jumps around in joy. And for a moment, Devy looks genuinely happy too.
But Devy is not the kind to beat about the bush when it comes to these things. He tells her bluntly that this is just a place he built, not her real home. Orchid’s face drops immediately. It’s not the same, she says.
Devy starts raging when she says she wants to leave. Things become worse when Orchid randomly mentions Changheng’s name. It’s like opening a can of worms.
Devy looks for a moment like he’s about to vomit, then he throws back at Orchid that he has only been good to her because of the curse between them, because he wants to protect himself, and that he actually despises having anything to do with her.
It’s clear that despite being older, taller, more fashionable, and allegedly more experienced, Devy trails behind Orchid in maturity.
But Orchid soon shows Devy that no one messes with her without consequences. That night, there’s thunder. After some initial fear, Orchid comes up with a plan. She pretends to be sick to summon Devy over. And when he’s close enough, she gives him one of these:
And it isn’t because she finds him charming.
