‘Love Between Fairy & Devil’: Ep. 8 Recap – Changheng’s Choice is Duty

*Devy = Devil = Dongfang Qingcang

Orchid gets complimented by Changheng during a little meeting in the Heaven courtyard. She is so happy that she raves about it with Devy with she gets home. Devy scoffs at her at first, but he then expresses to his assistant that he feels uncomfortable hearing those things from her. Hmm, what can it be, one might wonder?

Both Devy and his assistant come to the conclusion that the curse he is bound by is too powerful, and that must be the reason why his feelings are all over the place. They… truly are a remarkable (remarkably dense) pair of master and servant.

In another part of the palace, a fairy named Yulin fights with Dayin over a token that belongs to Changheng. Yulin claims Changheng gifted it to her, Dayin says she’s lying. Unfortunately for them, the Heaven King happens to walk by; and now he wants to know which girl Changheng has given that to. Because remember, whom Changheng dates is a matter of national security.

The matter is soon resolved, Yulin is exiled. The Heaven King then makes Changheng reject Orchid’s application to work under him. Devy brings Orchid to the scene where she overheard Changheng say — or made to say — that she is weak and incapable.

Orchid and Devy then go back home where Devy tries his best to cheer her up. He’s clumsy, but he’s getting there. And mainly, he just doesn’t want to feel the sadness she feels.

Changheng, on the other hand, gives us the last piece of the mystery surrounding him and Orchid. They met on the day he was injured and became friends; but due to their growing affection, Changheng is forced to erase her memory.

There you go, Changheng has given his answer to the question of “love or duty”. Now we eagerly await Devy’s.

The palace suddenly orders Changheng and his team to search the Archive for Moon criminals. In a moment of panic, Orchid drags Devy down a body of water (that just happens to exist in the middle of the sky, I guess). Now, how can they stay underwater without going out of breath? A tough mission. Oh, we know, lips-bumping.

Going back up, Orchid is flustered, as always. Devy, on the other hand, was all cool underwater and everything. But after they surface, he looks like he’s about to kill somebody for messing up his lunch order.

He also glimpses into the tree in front of Orchid’s desk and sees that same vision Dayin saw once: Changheng and Orchid getting married.

Next, worried that Devy might actually get caught one day, Orchid gives Devy some sleeping potion and drags him onto a boat so he can go home. This girl is so innocent she doesn’t know that a boat, some water, and a little distance aren’t going to stop Devy from coming back to the Archive if he wants to.
