*Devy = Devil = Dongfang Qingcang
Orchid has a nightmare about being discovered with Devy, whom she still doesn’t know the true identity of. But she does know he is from a different tribe. She’s too afraid of disappointing her perfect, perfect Changheng.
The next morning, Devy tries to wake Orchid up to get started on fixing the Destiny Book. But she’s a lazy little plant who likes to sleep a lot. Half-awake, she yells that Devy should just go and count all the flowers in the garden if he is that bored.
We find out the other part of the curse here: not only does Devy have to feel everything Orchid feels, he also has to obey her every order. Orchid tells him to “count all the flowers”, he counts all the flowers.
So Orchid basically has a plot armor against him now. Very convenient. Hanging out with a bad boy, doing all the stupid and innocent things she wants to do, AND ordering him around without ever being in danger. A girl’s fantasy right there, I’m telling you.
Here begins the phase of Devy’s life when he has to listen to all sorts of crazy things from Orchid: rumors about his tribe, about himself. He also has to put up with her childish tendencies and habits with no expiration date in sight.
This is the arc where Devy also has to learn how to take care of Orchid as one would a real orchid plant, which means giving her water of the right temperature, making her the right food, and occasionally taking her to see sunrise. Basically, it’s a How-to-be-a-Good-Boyfriend guide in disguise. Yeah, don’t even try to hide it, drama, it’s blatant.
Devy does all of these things begrudgingly. Understandable, the man was chained up for thousands of years only to run into this shenanigan the first minute he was released.
Once in a while, he blows up. But Orchid chalks it up to him just being an emo individual, especially after the whole counting flower incident, she further believes he is just an innocent and goofy guy.
Changheng, on the other hand, is making some medicine for Orchid since he assumes she was injured for jumping into the battle formation the other day.
We get more flashbacks, it turns out: Changheng does care about Orchid, after all. If not to say he has actually been harboring a little crush on her but has to pretend to be an ice-face in front of her for some reason. The classic silent sufferer.
