EPISODE 35
A group of Void Soldiers find the couples. Youqin heeds Chaofeng’s advice to show no mercy and prepares to strike.
No! Chaofeng stops him. These men are from Chaofeng’s troop, who have been loyal to him.
And it’s true, the men thank Qingkui for all the healing she has done and let them leave.
But one slash and Husui kills the Void Soldiers. She doesn’t want to take any chances; and since Youqin and Chaofeng are reluctant to harm their men, she offers to do it herself from now on. Wow… this girl is scary.
The Void King and the Heaven King lay siege to the mortal city to force Yetan and Qingkui to turn themselves in.
Qingkui wants to use kindness and reason to appeal to them but Yetan thinks differently: we’ve got powers now so let’s just beat them up. Yetan has the right idea, these two kings have turned into moustache-twirling villains, so don’t waste your time, Qingkui.
At last, they come up with a better plan: taking over the Heaven Palace and forcing the two kings to move the fight there. They showcase their powers, which are totally capable of decimating the entire Heaven Residence.
What’s better, the Heaven Queen threatens to divorce her husband and withdraw her clan’s support if he doesn’t let Yetan and the gang go.
The Void King takes this opportunity to make fun of the Heaven King’s abysmal management. You can’t even keep your own family in check — coming from a guy whose wives and sons straight up tried to murder one another.
The Heaven King agreed to Yetan’s terms. He lets them go and gives Husui back the artefact so she can resurrect her dead tribesmen. I don’t know, putting aside the Heaven King’s suspicious accommodation, trying to bring people back from the dead is never a good idea.
Anyway, they bring the artefact to Dongqiu’s land and activate it. But oh my gosh, it’s a fake. The device binds Youqin and Chaofeng to the ground as the Heaven and Void’s troops surround the girls.
Qingkui and Yetan’s powers don’t work in Dongqiu’s territory, so they are helpless this time.
What is left to do? Well, a noble sacrifice, I guess.
Qingkui offers her life in exchange for everyone else’s. According to Husui, if Qingkui takes her own life, her and Yetan’s power dies too, and Yetan will be just a mortal girl again. Poor Qingkui actually believes that these two kings care about honor and world peace, they’re just out for blood at this point.
Qingkui makes the two kings promise and asks the soldiers to be her witnesses. Then, despite Chaofeng and Yetan’s screams, she kills herself with a sword.
