‘The Starry Love’: Ep. 32 Recap — Towards a New Life

EPISODE 32

The mortal king continues with his story about Yetan. He is free to tell the truth now because at last there is someone powerful enough to shield Yetan from the unjust hatred she has to endure, aka Youqin.

Yetan definitely did not sign up for this when she came in to give the men her veggie pancakes.

It turns out that the king also got Yetan a birthday gift every year for eighteen years, but due to his court, he could not give them to her. So he has hidden all of them under the late queen’s memorial table instead. Okay, say no more, give the girl all the birthday gifts she is owed right now.

The truth and the apology from her dad are a little too much for Yetan to handle so she runs out of there.

Youqin brings Yetan to her mother’s memorial room later on and indeed, they find all the birthday presents there.

Yetan cries like a little girl, opening all those gifts she should have gotten a long time ago. She found that whatever Qingkui got, she got too. There are even baby shoes in the mix.

Later, both Yetan and Qingkui visit the king. They make up. Yetan apologizes to her father. For stealing his money and having Manman pose as him which ruined his reputation forever, I guess.

In the meantime, Chaofeng hangs out with his mom and his two best lieutenants, who are both excited to see him being reprimanded by the mortal king constantly.

Afterwards, the two couples decide to leave. They don’t think it’s a good idea for them to remain where the Heaven King and the Void King can easily find them. Who knows what those old, moody men might do once they’re bored.

Time to say goodbye to the mortal king and Consort Xue. Here, we learn from Consort Xue a dirty secret: Chaofeng doesn’t wash his feet as often as he should.

Hmm, because all the effort always goes to his hair, I assume?

When they reach their new home, which is a place in the Beast Realm, Yetan reveals her true thoughts towards Chaofeng. She doesn’t trust the guy one bit, no no, he needs to prove himself before she accepts him as a brother-in-law.

Yetan asks Chaofeng to go out and try to earn some money.

Now, acquiring money is not a problem for Chaofeng. The real problem is doing it legally.

After a few attempts at being honest and upright, Chaofeng gives up and goes to rob some desert dwellers.

When Chaiofeng brings home a bag full of gold and jewels, Yetan is beyond happy.

That’s my brother-in-law, she fist-bumps him.

But this doesn’t please Qingkui because it’s STEALING. Qingkui berates both Yetan and Chaofeng for thinking this is a good idea and reminding them that she doesn’t care about wealth. Oh don’t be a spoilsport, Qingkui, let them have some fun.

That night, Yetan and Youqin have a little lovey-dovey chat. Youqin comments that Yetan’s happiness is still incomplete.

How so? Yetan wonders if perhaps it is because Youqin has to abandon his entire family and responsibility to be with her.

Well, of course not, don’t count on Youqin to remember that he has a family. No no, he’s just talking about the fact that he and Yetan need a proper wedding.

The rest of the gang meets up with them a bit later, Husui comes too. Husui’s melancholy expression is always something to be nervous about. But anyhow, the couples are happy, friends are reunited, what more can we ask for?

Wait… why are there still 8 episodes left?
