Outside the Void Palace, Wudai pleads for Chaofeng and Qingkui, smashing his head against the ground while kowtowing.
When Qingkui doesn’t come out of there as planned, Consort Xue decides to go in to have a talk with her indecisive husband, despite how the Void Queen looks at her with murderous intent.
First, Consort Xue boosts the king’s self-esteem a little, reminding him about the reasons she fell in love with him in the first place: his courage, his vision for the future, etc. Then, she points out that if this rivalry between the brothers goes on, more people will die and the king will lose more children.
The Void King continues to think. Seems like he’s done a lot of thinking since he threw Qingkui and Chaofeng in jail. At last, he agrees to pardon Chaofeng.
Yes! Haichao runs to his boss and yells out the news. Things are hopeful once again for Chaofeng and Qingkui.
They return to Qingkui’s old residence, which has been looked after by a lady Qingkui befriended during her doctor days here. It’s a noble lady whose name I didn’t catch, but there’s a little snake on her headdress so I’ll be calling her Snake Princess.
It turns out that Snake Princess has a crush on Wudai, who still hasn’t let go of Qingkui.
While Qingkui was gone, Wudai used to come here and hang swords on her trees – swords that he won from defeating the enemies at the border. He also brought her flowers. Wudai and his puppy love for Qingkui moves the Snake Princess.
In the Heaven, Youqin’s annoyance reaches a new level because Yetan just does not have time for him with all the work she has to do as the future queen of the Heaven. So Youqin comes into Yetan’s class one day and acts like he’s bringing changes to the education system, but he’s actually just there to say: to hell with homework, afterschool is meant for fun.
So, the workload for the students is lessened and they’re all happy.
During class, Youqin makes eyes at Yetan and she slips him a note and… Okay, listen, Youqin, I don’t care where you flirt with her, but keep it out of the classroom!
If you and she were both students and you wanted to slip notes to each other, fine. That would be adorable, actually. But don’t do it when you’re in a position of power and can manipulate the rules however you want!
When class is over, Biqiong says she has questions and asks if Youqin can stay behind for a few minutes.
Nope, he says, learning is a long-term thing, and oh I can’t go back on my word to reduce your workload. You know, at least listen to her questions first. If she starts acting up then you can walk away. Don’t sit in the teacher’s chair but refuse to play the role.
Later that day, Youqin visits his mother. YES!
Oops, nope, I celebrated too soon. He’s just there to ask the queen’s permission to move on with the wedding as soon as possible.
By the way, remember the fairy Husui whom Qingheng kind of likes? Turns out, she is a member of a clan that had been vanquished by the late Heaven King.
All the realms were told that it had to be done because this clan was bound to release the evil force Guixu. But according to Husui, that is not the truth. Seems like Heaven Daddy (and the previous kings) has some shady past he is trying to hide.
