‘The Starry Love’: Ep. 26 Recap — Youqin Does a 180

EPISODE 26

Wait, the Void King does stop his wife from leading the army into her revenge mission, after all. He tells her to calm down. I doubt she can, though.

Heaven Realm stuff. Yetan stargazes alone that night, but after a while, Youqin comes. He watches her from afar for a bit and then goes to her to reveal a little secret.

He is not mad at Yetan! It was all an act at the hall because he didn’t want his father to know he’s feeling things. Youqin can touch Yetan and let her touch him with no problem now. Seems like whatever happens when the three Souls merge cured his anti-touchy issue.

Yetan is elated. They hug. Youqin gives us a summary of what happened in the mortal realm just in case any of us didn’t pay attention, and then says “I love you” to Yetan. “I don’t want to miss another chance with you”, “the past days made me realize…” so on and so forth.

Yetan is a little bewildered so she doesn’t reply yet. Youqin asks if she doubts him, and by the look of it, he is ready to serenade to her if she has doubts. No no please, Yetan, say you believe him, I don’t think I can take another minute of love songs and forlorn looks.

The next day, another surprise comes for Yetan. Dilanjue has made her and Qingkui a pair of phones so they can keep in touch. They are like sea floras and you talk through them. No face-timing, though, just voice calls. But it’s already a huge upgrade from writing on your skin with a knife, so no complaints.

Youqin has a hard time picking out an outfit; he is about to go out with Yetan. Oh, life is so hard for our busy crown prince.

His long-suffering mother is waiting to have a proper conversation with him and his siblings are eager to reunite with him after long years of separation and a near-death experience, but hey, deciding on the right embroidery pattern to wear to his first date is more important here, okay? Pffffft.

But the date doesn’t go as smoothly as Yetan and Youqin wanted because the Heaven King has sent a servant to spy on them. As disappointed as I am that Youqin has turned into a hug-me teddy bear, I do want him to shake this spy guy because he is like a fly that won’t quit buzzing around your ears.

A few days later, Lady Biqiong, Youqin’s cousin, invites them to her birthday banquet. This girl is still keen on marrying Youqin so she gets him to play a duet with her in front of everyone.

But being the golden fantasy boy that Youqin is nowadays, he looks worriedly at Yetan to ask for her permission first. As if she was an egg that would crack the moment he paid attention to anyone else besides her, even if it was to maintain a professional front.

Ziwu realizes this silent challenge from Biqiong, though, so she suggests that Youqin play a duet with Yetan. Oh no! Yetan doesn’t play the zither, at least not the way her sister can play.

But she has to play now that everyone is already cheering for her. And you know Yetan, this girl has never let the lack of traditional feminine qualities hinder her. She sits down and plays a whole pop song with that zither. It’s too shocking an experience for everyone that they can’t even criticize her.

When the party is over, Yetan and Youqin have one of their love birds’ chats. Yetan suggests they be more cautious from now on.

Youqin doesn’t seem to like it that Yetan is not as carefree and reckless as before. Maybe he preferred it when she gambled and burned his hair.

In the mortal realm, Chaofeng is having a great time… carrying stuff for his mom and Qingkui as they go shopping. Consort Xue is spoiling Qingkui rotten so Chaofeng is kind of like a servant these days.

But Chaofeng soon realizes that Haichao is hiding something from him, and it doesn’t take him long to find out what it is. His father has ordered his men to be executed because of his treachery.

Haichao didn’t want Chaofeng to know this because he knows Chaofeng would want to run back to save his men, and that means certain death for Chaofeng given how angry the Void King is. Haichao + Chaofeng = friendship goal.
