Not sure I look forward to Yetan’s romance with Youqin #2, aka Meiyouqing. Though, Qingkui and Chaofeng are making “progress”.
EPISODE 19
Yetan begins her plan to conquer Meiyouqing’s heart. After a few miserably unsuccessful attempts, she talks to one of Meiyouqing’s workers to find out more about him.
This research leads her to something she did not expect: he’s a fake assassin. There was a time when he had to work very hard for little money, but he learned some tricks, and now writes phoney books and tricks gullible people into believing he is this demon-slaying warrior who deserves their fear and worship; and he earns money this way. Of course he is no assassin, no legitimate assassin would dip his hand in wastewater for one coin. They wouldn’t have the time for that.
He also has no combat skills whatsoever. The good news is, however, he is a good guy and would not hurt a fly.
But the fact remains that he is not interested in Yetan. So she ambushes him one night, lets him know she knows his secret, and they make a deal: Meiyouqing agrees to marry Yetan if she can prove to him she is capable of making lots and lots of money. Talk about a downgrade from the real Youqin.
At the Beast Palace, Qingkui is worried that Chaofeng will find and hurt Lamu, so she works with Dilanjue and Ziwu to set up a trap.
They lure Chaofeng and his two assistants over with hints about Lamu. Chaofeng knows there will be an ambush but he takes the risk anyway.
They charge into Dilanjue’s place. Surprise! Ambush. Dilanjue captures them with one of his magic toys – it’s a glowing ball – and locks them up.
Who could have strategized this? Chaofeng ponders. Not that puppy prince for sure. Chaofeng bitterly concludes that Qingkui must be the brain behind this trap. How does your own medicine taste, Chaofeng?
Haichao, as usual, sings his “I told you so” song to Chaofeng.
Qingkui comes inside the magic prison to give Chaofeng and his assistants some food. She is quite stunned to see Chaofeng ultra furious at her.
I mean… What were you expecting, girl? You just crushed a mission crucial to this man’s plan to fight for the throne, something he has wanted since he was a kid. You couldn’t possibly think that some lunch and an apology would cut it, could you?
Chaofeng ultimately says it: he and Qingkui are too different, they can never walk the same path.
Yes! Lay it all on the table. Qingkui and Chaofeng’s issues are not like Yetan and Youqin’s, they can’t be covered up with comedy. If this ship must sink, then sink with dignity. Did you have to kick the food basket she brought you, though, Chaofeng?
Qingkui runs away in tears.
