EPISODE 41
Xiaojian leaves the group in a moment of anger. Erkang runs after him.
Erkang asks Xiaojian directly: do you like Xiaoyanzi or what?
And Xiaojian says yes, he likes Xiaoyanzi — hold your gasps — THE WAY HE LIKES ZIWEI. Yes, all right, everyone, dismissed. No romantic intentions to see here.
That’s clear enough for Erkang. He implores Xiaojian to rejoin them because he is still very much welcome. Also, it’s not like they can survive without Xiaojian anyway.
While waiting, Yongqi leads the group on and they run into a poor family who grow persimmon trees for a living. I think it’s persimmon, I might be wrong. Anyway, it’s fruits.
Wanting to spite Yongqi, Xiaoyanzi attempts to steal all the fruits in the orchard. Again… what are you doing?
But when the family comes out and starts crying, they all feel bad about it.
So now what? They have to PAY for the fruits they’ve picked. To be honest, though, I think this lady is faking it.
They could’ve just walked away and nothing would’ve happened. But Ziwei just has to offer them her mother’s earrings and then Yongqi has to offer his royal jade and then what? Xiaoyanzi is still a brat.
When they get to the next town, they have to sell those persimmons on the street to earn back some money. You’ve gotta give it to this group, they’re pretty resourceful.
Yongqi reflects on how low they’ve sunk. And I agree with him this time, this whole thing could have been avoided.
In the palace, the emperor has JUST received the outdated news about Ziwei’s eyes. The Fish Net official even brings home an epic poem penned by Erkang which talks about their tragic situation.
At this point, the emperor is ultra confused because he has always told his men to be discreet around the kids.
Lady Ling is like: Yongqi has to perform on the street for a living? We can’t! WE CAN’T!
After a while, she and the emperor decide to give the job to Erkang’s father, because only his face will not frighten the kids into running again.
Erkang’s father is so happy he bursts into tears.
The emperor also works out that his first wife is behind this whole thing. He visits and gives her a warning.
The little 15th Prince also runs in to beg the emperor to quickly bring his sisters and brothers home. God bless that kid.
The emperor is so angry right now that he threatens to take 15th away from the empress. But he cries and begs to be left alone here. Kid, listen, this is for your own good, ok? Also, it’s not about being away from your mom, it’s about being away from the nasty Nannies.
The dowager and Qing’er come in. Oh no. They ask the emperor to be lenient. The emperor agrees to let 15th stay here for now but tells everyone present to lay off the whole Xiaoyanzi business, even his mom.
The gang, on the other hand, has found another house to temporarily stay in.
Yongqi is still angry so Erkang takes him out and around in the garden to blow off some steam.
How dare that Xiaojian gaze at Xiaoyanzi whenever she talks, gruhhh, says Yongqi. How dare he risk his life for her and spoil her, that monster! I totally see where Yongqi’s coming from, though. It’s not like Xiaojian hasn’t spoiled Xiaoyanzi on purpose to provoke him.
But who could’ve thought Xiaojian is also taking a stroll there. When they come face to face, Xiaojian admits to having listened to Yongqi and Erkang’s conversation all along. Oops haha.
I’m sure Xiaojian has more to say than that, but you can be certain Yongqi won’t let him.
