‘Princess Pearl 2’: Ep. 27 Recap — Erkang and Yongqi Have a Plan (we hope)

EPISODE 27

The three girls are absolutely miserable in prison. They kind of deserve it this time, you know.

Now, in another cell, Yongi is starting to realize the obvious: he should have accepted that offer to be spared.

Erkang too regrets that they didn’t come up with a more elaborate plan.

And Erkang’s father is so done with everything right now.

But in the end, he and his wife rush to the palace to ask for the emperor’s forgiveness anyway. They appeal to the emperor as two miserable and very, very, very shocked parents.

In the prison, the boys think of a way to get Yongqi out: he feigns a stomachache. Lady Ling begs the emperor to let a physician look at him and carry him out.

It isn’t a very convincing act, but it seems like a lot of people are willing to help Yongqi so it’s all good.

The emperor summons Ziwei for a conversation, in which he tries to be patient for like two minutes then can’t control himself after Ziwei tells him everything from the beginning.

When the emperor asks her where Hanxiang is, Ziwei refuses to answer. This is the last straw, he hits her across the face.

Oh no, Ziwei is heartbroken. Her whole life’s wish is to find her father.

To be fair, now that everything has come to light, it looks like these kids truly made a fool out of the emperor so many times. They really are lucky he hasn’t beheaded them yet. Ziwei even asks him to be benevolent and look at the matter from an “outsider’s perspective”. I mean… girl, you technically helped an emperor’s wife hook up with another guy.

Yongqi plans to see the emperor to explain the situation — how come he’s not on house arrest? — but Lady Ling tells him to forget about it and just get the heck out first.

Yongqi then goes to the Fu manor, where Erkang’s parents are already laying out their plan to help the other three escape. For an old couple, they’re pretty daring.
