*Devy = Devil = Dongfang Qingcang
Orchid and Devy each obvious don’t trust the reason the other person told them for being in the mortal realm. But they both say they’re just here for a vacation.
A vacation it is. They hang out at a tea house that night. Guess whom Orchid sees there? Changheng! Taking his mortal test. He’s not exactly the hot War God this time round, to say the least. He kind of plays a goofy son of a rich man, who’s supposed to study for an imperial scholar exam but is slacking off instead. Dayin is his assistant here, they appear to be good friends.
Lady Chidi, however — Or Xie wanqing, as they call her here — is one beautiful and classy dancer.
She’s a little depressed at the moment. Even though she doesn’t know her immortal identity, she always feels like something, someone is waiting for her. And she is constantly haunted by a destiny she doesn’t know yet.
That night, a flute melody pouring into her window from nowhere makes her cry.
Orchid realizes that mortal-Changheng is kind of smitten with Wanqing, so she concludes that their mortal trials are intertwined somehow. Smart girl. She thinks Changheng is the one who’s supposed to kill Wanqing on their wedding night. You see, drama writers, it’s much better when the female lead is the one actively arranging a mortal trial.
Orchid asks Devy again what he is doing in the mortal realm, he sticks to the story: We’re here for a vacation. Orchid knows he’s lying.
