‘Love Between Fairy & Devil’: Ep. 17 Recap – Orchid Has Lots of Questions

Orchid is determined to figure out what happened between Devy and his father back then. She believes there must be a reason behind the father’s ruthlessness.

Devy, on the other hand, is experiencing some intense internal problems. His Tree of Emotion, which has been dead and dry on top of an icy island, is coming back to life, there’s no stopping it. And the island itself goes from ice to green. This must be terrible news for the marketing department since Devy has been riding on the brand of Emotionless for so long.

Things are going so bad for Devy that he grounds himself inside a hollow statue.

We get a lot of flashbacks of Devy’s childhood in this episode. He was an innocent boy once who pursued innocent hobbies. But his father made him into a ruthless fighter. At the same time, Orchid is finding out… the same thing. But, while digging around, she, Jieli, and Shangque find a scroll that kind of explains why the late Moon Lord made his son remove Emotions. It is because Devy was “destined” to wield Hellfire and protect the Moon Realm. Why not Xunfeng? Again, because “fate” didn’t choose him. Maybe fate just decided that Devy has better hair, who knows.

So, Orchid decides she needs to talk to the late Moon Lord face-to-face. The guy is dead? No problem, Jieli has a way. Nothing stops Orchid from healing Devy, I tell you, NOTHING.

With a little magic supplied by Jieli, Orchid travels to a spiritual realm. Devy senses it and follows her. Meeting her there, Devy expresses that she’s being nosy. After all, he didn’t ask her to resolve his family business. It’s a good point. I know that Orchid’s purpose in this drama is to teach Devy what love is, but her refusal to respect the boundary is not cute at all. If her attempt to meddle is successful despite Devy’s disagreement, it is because she gets lucky, not because she’s doing it the right way.

Moving on. The late Moon Lord’s spirit appears in response to Orchid’s summon. Get ready for a father-son showdown.
