Eternal Love of Dream – Unhelpful Recap (Episode 46)

Fengjiu continues to play her part. She arranges for Princess Quiet and Shenye to meet before Quiet is exiled. But Fengjiu also has another agenda: She wants to confront Moye about his lack of communication which has caused Aranya’s suffering.

So Fengjiu imitates Ara and starts flirting, successfully getting Moye to say he loves her. Then she gives him a good lecture about it.

But as Donghua passes by – of course he does, he’s actually… picking flowers nearby — he sees the whole thing. When Fengjiu gets home, he throws a quiet tantrum in the bathtub and goes underwater for a long time. Kind of like… what a kid would do when he doesn’t get the toy he wants.

That scares Fengjiu for a while. Maybe you should consider adding more sugar to those stick candies so he would calm down, I don’t know…

But Donghua finally spills the beans and asks Fengjiu how Shenye is better than him and why she prefers Shenye’s company. Erm… I don’t think you’re in the position to criticize the girl about a hug given your past conduct with Jiheng!

Anyway, they make up. And the next morning, it looks like they’ve done the “deed”.

Moye, on the other hand, sends Donghua an SOS letter this time. He doesn’t have the energy to work alone with the cauldron anymore. But Donghua ignores this letter.

All in all, it looks like Fengjiu has spoiled Donghua too much.

  1. I hate… totally hate the aproach, direction, rendition, or wherever the director try to do to this important moment… it was supposed to be DongHua in fully and complete awareness that he, maybe, had done things the wrong way, that his almighty been maybe has made some mistakes along the way that lead to Fengjui getting tired and prefering being around with anyone but him. He’s supposed to be jealouse, but worry and serious because he found something he can’t understand. And talking with Fengjui after getting soaking wet in the rain just make it worst because he doesn’t say anything and she’s just saying ramdom things to try to make conversation about every guy around, wich leads to Donghua in despair, and angry and totally lost, and that’s why in he has a “low selfsteem” point, wich leads to him having a sad moment of “I can let you go but I want to know if you feel something for me” moment.

Instead, just like you said, we just get a kid doing a tantrum. This series is not perfect by far, but here we could have some deepness to Donghua’s character, to go with hand of all the complexity and sadness of the dream and the other characters like shenye.

I really love Donghua’s character in the drama, and I’m not comparing him to TMoPB. But I do compare it to the book and this exageration of him “being in love for the first time like a child” makes me mad, more because we could have seen some layers in hus personality but no, we still got the I love you and I don’t care about anything else.

Ohh I’m so sorry for this rant jajajajaja

Yes, agreed. For all the building up for the character, the drama had a chance to make his “jealousy” moment a serious turning point, but we don’t get many layers at all. And true, putting this kiddie tantrum next to Shenye makes it look even worse 😂
