Back at the palace, Moye tells Fengjiu about the next step they’re about to take in this Aranya’s dream. Fengjiu will have to begin sending letters to Shenye to stir things up, and also introduce him to someone called Wentian.
Shenye sends letters back once he receives hers. At one point, Shenye also digs up some wine for… celebration, I guess. Though he looks pretty wild, like he’s about to drug both himself and Fengjiu.
But it doesn’t take him long to realize that it is not Aranya who is corresponding with him. He called Fengjiu out and is heartbroken that he may never get to see the real Aranya again, or find out the truth about her death, or… whatever else he’s trying to do here by building this Dream Realm.
In the meantime, Donghua conjures up a magic cauldron in order to create that mirror. Both he and Moye work on this project.
One day, Fengjiu sends them both homemade candies. Donghua gets a considerably bigger number of candies than Moye, who just has the best reaction to this surprise.
Moye wonders why there is such a bias in Fengjiu’s treatment. Well, Donghua is playing the husband, after all. Too bad you had to choose to be “shifu”.
To return this regard from Fengjiu, Donghua visits her one evening and magically conjures up a purple date for her. Purple flower petals, purple birds that sing… purple notes, I guess.
