Dream of Splendour – Unhelpful Recap (Ep. 22)

Pan’er and Qianfan are having too much lovey-dovey time these days and I’m not sure I like it. I mean, who’s running the teahouse and doing all the investigations??

Also, kissing in public, bridal carrying IN PUBLIC. At one point, Chen Lian leads a group of people to throw petals down at them from a bridge, like in a K-drama, even Pan’er is like, I need a moment to process all this

When they get to Pan’er’s house, Yinzhang is there. She invites Qianfan in and asks for his opinion on her performance of a song she has been practicing non-stop for days.

Qianfan is tough, and I mean he’s TOUGH. He says Yinzhang has turned a song of heroes and grand deeds into something like the trailer of Bridgerton, and he isn’t happy at all. She plays with the wrong kind of energy, and too much of it is what he means.

Qianfan suggests that if Yinzhang knows what’s good for her, she should play something else at the upcoming event. Well, that’s got to hurt. Now hopefully Yinzhang understands that she’s dealing with a big bro, not a suitor.

Qianfan catches a member of the Hat Demon gang, but the investigation doesn’t go smoothly since several other officials want to have this prisoner for themselves. After some arguments, Qianfan realizes there’s something his father-figure – Qi Mu – hasn’t told him.

Lord Xiao’s birthday comes, and he gets a well-wishing card from the emperor himself, but his useless son just has to show disrespect to the card in front of everyone by shoving it at a servant with one hand.
