Chaofeng has an adorable relationship with his mother. Well, if you can call both of their tendency to scheme and plot adorable. Point is, they have each other’s back, and Mom can certainly beat Chaofeng up when he misbehaves.
In the Heaven Realm, Youqin begins to tutor Yetan. It isn’t an easy job because she’s a mortal. But the girl is resilient and willing to learn, we’ve got to give her that.
She also shifts around adorably in her chair before saying enchantments in the same way you see little kids imitating how magic works after only watching adults do it.
The little magic she can call upon right now doesn’t do what Youqin asks her to do, but she conjures way more creative things. Like a brush’s tip that tastes like candy, or this hairstyle nobody in the Nine Heavens could have given Youqin.
Dignity gone.

On the bright side: at least we know Yetan has great potential. She just directed that potential at the wrong target.
Meanwhile, the Beast prince finally arrives to save his Yetan but a gust of wind knocks him out from the sky and right down in front of Youqin’s sister, Princess Ziwu. No way to escape and with a possibly broken leg, transfiguration is the only way! Poof!
He’s now the cutest puppy alive. Oh my goodness, why is this puppy such a good actor? Ziwu takes the lost puppy to her palace. Who’s the damsel in distress now, Beast Prince?
Testing day. All students have to walk through an enchanted veil which strips away any spells they carry or have cast on themselves to prevent cheating.
Because some of these students use magic to alter their looks, they come out on the other side of the veil no longer attractive.
The bratty cousin princess hopes to humiliate Yetan this way since she thinks Yetan must be a troll. But what do you know, Yetan walks through the veil and her beauty remains intact and everyone oohs and ahhs. O…kay, so the actress is beautiful. What’s your point, drama?
It’s a very interesting choice of a drama filler scene. But we do get a really cute eye contact moment between Youqin and Yetan.
The test today is to revive dead tree branches, aka a revitalization spell. Yetan hasn’t practiced this one! But the smart girl quickly improvises. She combines this spell and that and brings the dried tree branch back to life. She even manages to turn some leaves into birds.
Everyone likes her work. But it doesn’t please the teacher. He wanted the result of a real revitalization spell, not a trick. And her attitude bugs him – like, how dare you try to be smarter than your teacher – so he gives her an average grade.
But there’s no denying that Yetan has impressed everyone there. Youqin smiles one of those proud “that’s my future wife, people” smiles.
In the meantime, Qingkui visits Chaofeng, who is still keeping up his “fatally injured” act.
I’m dying at the whole bit with Chaofeng and Haichao deciding between breaking his leg or arm.
The news reaches Wudai that Qingkui and Chaofeng have been more friendly than they should be nowadays, so Wudai storms into Chaofeng’s place and catches them together.
What infuriates Wudai more than the possibility of them dating is how Chaofeng gets medical treatment for his injuries. Wimps who get help from physicians are not tolerated here, apparently. True men either master the art of healing themselves or die trying. Also, MORTAL medicine? The shame!
Qingkui asks Wudai not to look down on medicine. She challenges Wudai to a fight, saying that her medical skills can beat his muscles. Wudai agrees. I’m not sure whether it’s a good or bad thing that this guy agrees to a wrestling match with a woman here. On one hand, I guess that means he respects her capability; on the other, it’s a woman half your size, you big bully!
Changfeng didn’t expect it to go this far, so he decides that if Wudai comes close to hurting Qingkui, he’ll get involved. It doesn’t seem like he has any other choice, though, because Haichao keeps shaming him non-stop for dragging an innocent woman into this.
This is probably the biggest risk to take because stepping in means he’ll reveal his hidden powers and put himself on the target board for the fight for the crown. But holy cow, as Wudai jumps forward to Qingkui with his giant axe, Chaofeng’s hand brightens with hidden powers.
