‘Love Between Fairy & Devil’: Ep. 7 Recap – Ronghao Had a Gorgeous Teacher

Devy shows up just in time to save Orchid from an enraged beast. When he is about to kill the beast, however, Orchid stops him. The beast is just a wild being who acts on his instincts, after all. Plus, he was possessed.

Devy and Orchid get into a fight here.

DEVY: feelings are not important and you should only care about winning and losing.

ORCHID: if everyone does that, the world will become a bad place.

If we take out the romance, their conversations would make excellent bedtime life lessons for kids.

At this time, a worried Changheng rushes over. He loses his cool over the state of Orchid for a second but quickly collects himself.

The other immortals arrive at the scene too. They find that there are traces of foreign magic across the field, magic that only dark immortals and the Moon people can conjure. Ronghao, Changheng’s best friend, finds something interesting about Orchid.

Back at home, Orchid asks Devy whether he had anything to do with the dark magic they found at the exam site. He responds that if he really wanted to harm people, he would have done so easily without anyone noticing. And NOW Orchid considers turning him in.

When she commands Devy to go and tell the truth to the authority at the Heaven Palace, the forehead-flower magic takes effect and Devy has no choice but to obey. Inches away from actually exposing himself, he thinks of a way to calm Orchid down.

I went to the exam site to help you, he tells her. Orchid stops and realizes that all the spells she cast during the exam were done by the power of Devy, not her own. Overcome by disappointment in herself and by gratitude, she drops the whole “dark magic” issue.

That night, Orchid rants about how sad she is and how lonely she would be if Devy leaves. Devy, of course, doesn’t understand any of this.

The next day, Orchid gets congratulated by the exam board. Dayin has changed her attitude towards Orchid. And since Dayin is the head of a girl group, all the girls in the group are also nicer to Orchid now. However, Dayin makes it clear that she only acknowledges Orchid’s abilities, but she still hates Orchid as a person. Well, fair enough. At least she’s honest about it.

This has a bit to do with the fact that Dayin visited the Archive once and saw a vision that foretells Changheng’s wedding, in which Orchid is the bride! Don’t even ask me why visions and records just keep floating around randomly for people to see in this drama.

It is revealed in this episode that Ronghao is the bad guy. What’s more? He has been harboring a crush on his late mentor, the God of War before Changheng. This dude may always be second lead, but he’s certainly gotten entangled with a lot of beautiful leading ladies.

First, there’s Hua Qiangu.

Then, it’s Zhao Pan’er.

Now look at his gorgeous “Shifu”.

Anyway. He has his suspicions about Orchid’s powers, so he asks her to revive a dead plant for him, without tell her the truth, of course. Orchid blows life into it, believing that it’s just an ordinary plant this guy puts on his desk for decoration or something like that. And there Ronghao has his answer. He concludes that Orchid must be Xishan, the goddess Changheng is supposed to marry whom no one knows the whereabouts of. And Ronghao intends to make use of her power to bring his mentor back to life.

He currently keeps his mentor’s body in a remote place no one knows about.

Seems like Bai Qian finally has a friend to share her Shifu’s-body-stealing tips with.
