‘You Are My Glory’: Ep. 16 – 20 Recap — The Groveling Has Begun

EPISODES 16 – 20 RECAP

Yutu goes back to work. This time, his work keeps him busy day and night. They’re building a new rocket and the team has to work in a desert inside these Minecraft tents for a while.

And since Jingjing is not talking to him, Yutu’s pastime now only consists of watching live videos of her being happy with her friends and fans.

After some great teamwork, the research and test phase are somewhat done and Yutu goes back to the city again. Only to run into his clingy ex. I thought this woman was all right, but she turns out to be really petty. She pretty much drags Yutu out for dinner and then spends all that time throwing shades at Jingjing.

And if you think Jingjing has better luck with her ex, you’re wrong. He’s even worse. It’s the guy with glasses who showed up at her game contest that time. He approaches her during a cocktail party and admits that it was his ex-girlfriend who leaked Jingjing’s gaming video a while ago. Then he has the guts to ask her out again, and not even directly. He just makes vague and creepy suggestions, clearing thinking Jingjing would throw herself at him and kiss his Clark Kent glasses or whatever.

What is up with all these crazy exes? Actually, maybe we need to ask what is wrong with Jingjing and Yutu, why did they date such crappy people?

Yutu visits his parents one day and takes a look at his old computer. There he finds his old chat records with Jingjing when they were still in school together.

Back then, she tried to get his attention by asking him science questions. I’m not gonna lie, those are pretty silly questions that give away the fact that you have a crush on the guy immediately. Jingjing is clearly no science major.

Yutu sees his own cold and mean replies to her questions and swells with regrets. He also realizes that Jingjing tried hard to improve her grades and get into a good school because she wanted to impress him.

Hence, the long campaign to win Jingjing back begins for Yutu. He starts by handwriting her letters answering those silly questions, and even drawing little diagrams for her.

Jingjing has a busy life too so it takes her a while to get to those letters, to which she replies: thanks, but no, thanks. The girl’s heart is still in pieces about the two rejections she got.

Near New Year, after a get-together, Jingjing gets ready to go home with Xiaozhu, but who would have thought, Yutu would ambush her in the parking garage. His Plan B. With the help of adorable Xiaozhu.

Jingjing agrees to let him drive her. She sits in the back, though. Haha. Yutu capitalizes on this opportunity by asking Jingjing to help him navigate. While the car has a built-in GPS. Yeah, remember how Jingjing’s science questions sounded “stupid”? Guess who’s the joke now.

Despite all this effort, Jingjing still gives Yutu the silent treatment, so he moves on to the next part of his plan: gas station. Even though the tank is still, I believe, 2/3 full.

For a brief minute, Yutu tries to walk next to Jingjing and makes it look like their arms just accidentally touch, I guess. But she doesn’t like that at all.

Her silent treatment has pushed him to the edge so he decides to have it out. No more games. Not like he was winning any of those games, anyway.

Yutu asks Jingjing out and apologizes that he came up with all sorts of excuses to reject her. Not to mention that those excuses he used made her believe he still looked down on her.

I am liking this a lot but just… one thing here: can you guys do this somewhere else? This is a gas station with minimal lighting! Are you trying to get robbed or something?

They hug. Well, more like he surprises her with a hug. Jingjing is taken aback and her response indicates she needs time to think about it. After all, being too confident when approaching Yutu has cost her a lot in the past.

Even as Yutu explains his side very clearly now, she still needs time. And Yutu is very, very detailed about his explanation, all right, down to the reason why he rejected her last time and what he thinks they should do to resolve their issue. He was even ready to write the whole thing down and dissect it like a maths problem. Boy is a true scientist.

They finally get back in the car, thank god, and continue their drive.

Both Jingjing and Yutu go home to their respective parents, who are very supportive of their kids, by the way. Can all drama parents be like this?

Yutu asks Jingjing to hang out with him a few times, but she is persistent with the silent treatment. The poor brothers/cousins on both sides have no idea what’s going on with their older siblings.
