EPISODE 37
Yetan attempts to kill Wudai too when he refuses to submit his troops to her, but Chaofeng pleads for him. I’m loving the way Chaofeng is determined to give everyone a second chance here.
Yetan later gives Chaofeng the flower which contains Qingkui’s spirit so he can take care of it. Hmm, men in fantasy dramas seem destined for gardening a lot nowadays.
When the Heaven King hears the news, he sends Youqin after Yetan. This is the last straw for the queen, she breaks up with him and summons her two other kids to discuss what to do.
Robot-Youqin accepts the order without question and charges into the Void’s territory. At first, Yetan is all like, Ohmegosh my husband’s here I knew he’d find meee.
But then Youqin is like, I’m here to bring you under control, witch. He’s pretty confident about it all that it’s almost innocent.
Yetan has no idea that Youqin has lost his memory, but she gets ready to fight anyway when he insists on it. They go for a few rounds and Youqin realizes that this girl knows a lot of tactics he developed himself. How could this be?
On top of it all, she keeps calling herself his wife.
When it looks like Yetan is about to lose, Qingheng comes and puts a stop to it. This makes Youqin think even harder. So his brother and sister are in cahoots with a criminal? This rattles his brain.
Youqin decides it is best to retreat. Boy has some thinking to do. So despite the spy guy’s foolish urge to keep attacking, Youqin heads home.
Dilanjue comments later on how mature Qingheng has become. It’s true, the things he has been through have given Qingheng both strength and compassion. Dilanjue also wonders whether Youqin is OK up in his head because why on earth does he keep losing his memory at the wrong time?
COMMENTS
As much as I am enjoying Yetan’s “devil” phase, the writer does not do her justice here. There is nothing interesting about a character with superpowers who can smash her way to victory, and that is what Yetan has become. Until she has to yield to the man who smashes his way to victory, that is.
The Void King’s death is already a waste; and as we come to this point, the right thing to do to gain the Void’s alliance would be to reason with Wudai and convince him to avenge Qingkui. Wudai has made it clear before that he is 1) possible to negotiate with, and 2) values people who are kind to him. A conversation between Yetan and Wudai would benefit both characters.
Instead, we have Yetan getting everything she wants with her newfound power and later on commenting that she has lost everyone she loved on the way. As if she actually went through a painstaking journey to achieve this power.
Welll… the good news is the actress is pretty good in these scenes.
