They hold a funeral for Qingkui at the mortal palace. Great performance of grief and denial from Lilandi during these scenes.
Consort Xue worries about Chaofeng, who has been captured by the Void King. But Haichao is sure his boss will get through this.
The Heaven King erases Youqin’s memories of his mortal trials, so when he wakes up, he is robotic and antisocial once again.
The other members of Youqin’s family and the three friendly deities try everything they can to make him remember Yetan, including making Ziwu wear a garter on her head like Yetan did once.
But it seems like the Heaven King’s magic is pretty strong on this one.
Yetan is in denial and refuses to go to Qingkui’s funeral. She believes she can bring Qingkui back to life. How? Well, she doesn’t know yet, but she does know there is something that must be done right now: REVENGE.
With Husui’s help, Yetan regrows the sacred plant of Dongqiu, which gives her her awesome power back. Yes, I’m sorry, Qingkui, but nothing you sacrificed your life for is happening. The people you love still suffer, the soldiers you ask to be your witnesses play no part in holding the two kings to their promises; so Yetan really has no choice but to go Thanos on the bad guys here.
First thing to do: releasing Chaofeng from the Void Prison. Good idea, this situation requires a guy with his memory intact.
Chaofeng is being tortured and humiliated by the Hoarse Voice guy. His styled and gelled hair is still the same though.
Yetan marches in – in iconic purple clothing and make-up – and kills that annoying servant guy. And I just love the look Chaofeng gives Yetan here. They are so ready to be evil together.
Then she and Chaofeng head for the hall. Yetan goes straight for the Void King as Chaofeng and the others take care of the Void Queen.
Why is Chaofeng so weak in this scene, though? He constantly gets beaten and Consort Xue has to kill the queen in the end? Look, I know you’ve been starved and tortured for days but aren’t you the best prince out of them all? Pull out that fire whip from the ground like you did in episode 1 and show us something cool!
When Yetan has the Void King in a chokehold, Chaofeng pleads for his life, asking him whether he ever loves his mom (Consort Xue).
But of course, now is not the time for character depth and reflection. It’s a one-girl-rules-all moment. The Void King calls Chaofeng and his mother lowly slaves and then Yetan finishes him.
Yetan also claims the entire Void Army and is ready for some more fight.
