EPISODE 2 RECAP
Crown Prince Youqin brings Yetan back home safely and he breathes a breath of relief that he doesn’t have to hear her voice anymore. For now.
Yetan, her pet bird, and their friend – the prince of the Beast Kingdom; this girl sure has a lot of connections – hold a meeting to review what they’re going to do the next day. Yetan plans to cause a commotion, and when the Heaven men and the Void* men fight, the Beast Prince will take her sister far away so she won’t have to marry the Youqin. Easy enough.
Comes the next day. The Heaven Prince and the Void Prince are both present to pick up their brides. The emperor says goodbye to his daughters. Well, more like he says goodbye to Qingkui and then takes the opportunity to insult Yetan some more. What is wrong with this guy?
The Beast Prince does as planned. He causes a sandstorm which puts everyone in bewilderment. The dim-witted Void Prince thinks that the Heaven people are trying to assassinate him, while Youqin can’t wait to get out of there because one more minute and his IQ will be dragged down to zero by these people.
Chaofeng – the third prince of the Void Kingdom – recognizes Yetan from the other day. She has seen him trying to kill his brother so it isn’t good news for him that she’s marrying into the Void Kingdom. Taking advantage of the commotion, he swaps the two princesses. Ooooh… When things calm down again, Yetan is inside the Heaven sedan, and her sister Qingkui is settled in the Void sedan. Off to the wrong places we go.
Arriving at the Heaven Kingdom, Youqin laments his future life with Yetan. But he carries on with the ceremony anyway. The engaged couple is supposed to cross the Bridge of Destiny on their first day here; if they are destined to be, the Bridge will react. You know… considering how the Heaven People always have such useful tools to figure out their lives, it’s amazing how they are always the ones to mess up the most. Like, Ten Miles has a rock that tells you exactly who you will end up with, Love and Destiny has a bunch of mirrors that show the past, present and future, Fairy&Devil has leaves that hold records and prophecies, and here we have a bridge that gives you instant feedback about your love choice. Maybe these people should think about utilizing their magical things more.
Anyway, time to cross that Bridge. But Yetan is afraid of heights and keeps clinging onto Youqin, who is terrified of any form of physical contact but is unable to shake her off. It’s pretty funny how Yetan can be so daring – dealing with voodoo people, planning to steal a bride and run away and all – yet she can also be such a chicken at the same time.
But guess what? The Bridge reacts. Flowers bloom, lights spring forth, rainbows shoot out and everything. While Yetan is confused, Youqin is in a state of terror, this means that he will be stuck with this girl for a long time. No more peace and quiet. Alas, how can fate treat him like this?
At the Void Kingdom, Qingkui knows there has been a mix-up and is frightened. Different from the Heaven men, Void men seem to be a bunch of brutes with no manners whatsoever, especially the Crown Prince guy. They scare Qingkui so much that she can’t even open her mouth to say that she is the wrong bride.
