EPISODE 47
At Lady Ling’s palace, the 15th prince keeps crying and asking for the empress, his mom. The emperor gets angry and tells him to stop. I don’t like boys who cry, he says. Erm… Huang-ah-ma, did you notice how much you cried two episodes ago?
Anyway, Ziwei and Qing’er come to visit the boy, and Ziwei says she has a poem to recite to the emperor. Ughh, I knew it, this girl just can’t leave well enough alone, can she.
If the little prince keeps being around the empress, he’ll pick up all the bad habits and the evil scheming and more people will suffer, CAN’T YOU SEE THAT?
But the emperor relents, mostly for Lady Ling’s sake, because putting this on Lady Ling’s shoulders is kind of unfair to her.
So Ziwei and Qing’er bring 15th back to the empress. The empress cries; Nanny Rong looks like she regrets her past actions. Oh, please.
Next, there’s the long-awaited wedding to discuss. The dowager calls Erkang in and expresses her wish, which is for him to marry both Ziwei and Qing’er. She still doesn’t get it, does she?
Of course, Erkang resists with all of his being. Like he always does. In the end, Qing’er takes Erkang out for a talk, to which the dowager agrees.
Qing’er makes it clear that she doesn’t like Erkang that way anymore, even though she used to. She wishes them both happiness. And come on, Qing’er is too good to be a concubine, just let it go, Dowager.
Encouraged by Qing’er, the dowager visits the two girls’ place and gives them her blessing. She even allows Xiaoyanzi to call her “granny”. It all seems a little too sudden but I get that they need to wrap up the drama.
