EPISODE 42
Yongqi shouts at Xiaojian for eavesdropping. And Erkang is like: why’d you even do that for, Xiaojian?
Things get heated when Xiaojian says he will take Xiaoyanzi away because Yongqi doesn’t deserve her.
Yongqi is like: you did NOT just say that! What does that even mean?
Xiaojian is like: I totally did, and I don’t care what it means.
And fight they do! Despite Erkang’s pleas about friendship and how they’re guests in someone else’s house, Yongqi and Xiaojian chase each other all over the building with weapons.
The girls run out to see what’s going on. The duel soon turns into a fight to the death when Yongqi accidentally slashes Xiaojian’s hand.
Xiaoyanzi thinks they’re just having a sparring session and comments on the odd number of men participating.
But things take a different turn when Xiaojian attacks Yongqi with his sword for real. Xiaoyanzi jumps in and tells him to stop. And stop he does. Wouldn’t want to upset his precious girl, wouldn’t he? Whatever she is to him.
So what’s really going on? When Yongqi yells at Xiaojian to keep fighting, the latter says enough and spills the truth: Xiaoyanzi is his sister. That’s right, SISTER.
Well, you have a lot to explain, Mister.
Actually, it isn’t a lot. They were siblings, got separated from a young age, and he’s been looking for her all this time. That’s it. The rest of the story concerns characters that won’t make a difference to the plot at this point, so let’s not bother with them.
Erkang realizes there are still some plotholes in Xiaojian’s story. According to Xiaojian, he largely relied on his instincts to figure out who Xiaoyanzi is, so how does he know for sure she’s the sister he’s been looking for?
And we all know who’s the happiest receiver of this news: Yongqi. He can breathe in relief now because we are sure that Xiaojian HAS NOT been trying to bang his sister. All that spoiling is just him making up for lost time with her. I’ve got to say, though, he did purposely try to provoke Yongqi a lot.
The rest of the episode is just Xiaoyanzi going crazy over the fact that she still has a living family member. An awesome big brother who knows everything about everything too at that.
She doesn’t let anyone sleep and makes them listen to her chanting “I have a brother” all day, all night. Poor Ziwei can do nothing but accept this harassment.
That night, Ziwei and Erkang catch Xiaojian drinking alone in the garden and “interrogate” him a little; because when Xiaojian told his story, he said his and Xiaoyanzi’s family had been framed and killed by a powerful enemy.
Erkang suspects that Xiaojian hasn’t avenged his family like he said he had, and that this “enemy” is connected to them all in a big way. Oooh, the plot thickens. I hope it won’t thicken too much, though, cause there are only six episodes left.
COMMENTS
So what do I think about this whole brother-sister plot? Like Ziwei and Erkang, I don’t really buy it. But hey, Xiaoyanzi deserves a firm hand to rein her in family of her own, even though she already got spoiled rotten by the family she’s had all along anyway. However, this does seem like too convenient a solution to resolve Yongqi’s jealousy, which robs Yongqi and Xiaoyanzi of the chance to truly work out their problems. And there are A LOT of problems; a good relationship can’t just be built on the guy obeying the girl’s every whim, you know.
