Changheng runs into some problems as he tries to escape. The Heaven Lord locks him up in an enchanted tower this time to make sure he doesn’t run off again.
At the Moon Realm, Orchid tries to help Jieli run away before she does something to piss off Devy again and lose her life. They both agree that Orchid will walk Jieli out of the Moon Palace and then part there. Jieli also gives Orchid a hair ornament with the power to void the connection between her and Devy temporarily, so that he wouldn’t feel anything from Orchid while they attempt their escape.
It doesn’t go well, however. Orchid and Jieli run into Ronghao’s lady assistant, who is just everywhere, sneaking up on people all the time.
While Devy doesn’t feel Orchid’s fear, his hand gets the same injury when Orchid is slashed by the evil lady’s whip.
During the struggle, guess who comes to Orchid’s rescue? Changheng! Except it isn’t Changheng since he just got double-grounded at home. It’s Ronghao in disguise. He puts on an act and pretends to bring Orchid back to the Archive, which is just an illusion he created. He talks Orchid into fixing the Destiny Book there.
Orchid, thinking that he’s really Changheng, begins to work on the Book immediately. She can’t say no to Changheng and his overly gentle smile, it seems.
This time, Orchid actually gets the job done. However, when she was about to hand it over to the not-Changheng, she realizes something weird about the whole place. Her desk is neater than it’s supposed to be and everywhere is just eerily quiet. You’ve got to love Orchid’s thinking face.
She doesn’t conclude that Changheng is trying to trick her, but that the man in front of her is not Changheng at all. It’s naïve, but luckily it’s in the right direction. Orchid has actually done a lot more thinking than Devy so far, by the way.
Orchid isn’t easily scared. She manages to go along with the act for a little longer. But not-Changheng quickly turns into, tada, Ronghao, and starts threatening her right away.
Devy breaks into the place just in time to save her. He pulls the same performance last time: asking the enemy how they got the guts to touch Orchid while rock music plays in the background.
When they get back, Devy is pretty pissed at Orchid for running around recklessly like that. He makes a passionate speech that contains, let’s say, the kind of things that anyone would want to fight back against unless you’re distracted enough by his face.
You’re not allowed to go anywhere without telling me.
You’re not allowed to separate from me from now on for even one second.
That kind of thing.
This is also to protect himself, of course. If Orchid takes a wrong step, they’re both toast for real, so what can we do?
Devy cools down a little when she tells him the Destiny Book has been fixed. However, as soon as he finds out that Orchid only finishes the Book so quickly because of Changheng’s smile, he fires up again. Devy is furious, Orchid is a little clueless.
Orchid tries to make peace and dilute the tension by asking Devy how he was able to identify her among all the illusions back there. Devy’s answer: even if you were placed in a forest of orchids, I would still be able to recognize you. Erm… I was hoping for a real answer there, Devy.
But his, er… charming response must have taken Orchid’s breath away or something because she passes out right after that. Or maybe from exhaustion. Could be either.
When Orchid wakes up, they make up over roasted fish. Devy realizes at this point that Orchid is wearing that hairpin which is interfering with the connection between them. He tries to make her take it off, but Orchid is firm. Her thoughts are her own, she says.
Devy doesn’t understand why she was okay with him knowing her secrets before, but not now. Kiddo, she was never okay with it.
