So, it turns out that Zheyan has learned nothing from the whole Bai Qian, Yehua, and Moyuan mess, and still hasn’t stopped trying to matchmake people.
This time, he proposes a marriage between Fengjiu and a “Lord Cangyi” on behalf of this lord.
Fengjiu’s father is completely on board; his reason: if Fengjiu is forced to settle down with a man, she might… actually start behaving better. Turns out, Qingqiu is not so progressive, after all.
Fengjiu, on the other hand, is still mourning the loss of General Ye and is sad about what she’s done to Donghua in the mortal realm. Listen to me, this man is 100XXXX years old, I think he can handle a broken heart that he WANTED to experience.
Oops… I spoke too soon, it seems Donghua is not exactly handling it, because he’s beginning to walk around daydreaming and reciting poetry and stuff, and nearly gets hit by a knife Chengyu throws at Liansong.
At home, Fengjiu drunkenly signs her new marriage contract, and only came to full term with it the next morning. Her father refuses to break this contract, saying that she will have to actually face the consequences of her mistake this time.
Fengjiu then decides to take it to the lord she’s supposed to marry only to find out that this guy is impossible to reason with despite her sincerity and straightforwardness. Either he really needs her for political reasons, or Fengjiu might have gained another admirer.
So Fengjiu challenges him to a sword fight, stating that one of Qingqiu’s rules demands all men to be better than their women at everything.
Without checking to see if that’s an actual rule, Lord Cangyi lets himself fall into a dilemma, but eventually, he yields to this request. But, shortly after the fight starts, Fengjiu’s father and Zheyan just have to come and ruin the fun.
OTHER COMMENTS
I don’t exactly get the purpose of A-li in this drama. Sure, the kid actor is not bad, but besides eavesdropping and giving random expositions, A-li’s scenes have been largely unnecessary.
A Li is always with FengJui in the book too while their parent are about to get married. I guess is just to keep with the book or to give us some “nostalgia” because he’s not useful to the plot (even if he hanging out with his aunt is usefull to give Yehua and BaiQian time alone XD)
