Pan’er decides to do something to help Yinzhang. She is quick witted, but money is needed to execute this plan she has. A lot of money. She asks Gu Qianfan if she can borrow some. In exchange, she offers him some information about the painting he is looking for. Pan’er gets around a lot too and gets paid in more than just money.
Qianfan isn’t doing so good himself, being a hunted man and all that. But in the end, he gives her something that’s worth a lot of money and looks like mini soap bar.
This particularly elevates Qianfan’s status in Pan’er’s eyes since he is giving her the only valuable thing he has at the time.
And heaven knows our girl Pan’er makes good use of that money.
She and San-niang sneak in to see Yinzhang, tell her how to lure her husband Zhou She into a trap they have waiting for him.
They also manage to give the guy a good beating in the middle of the street and make everyone believe he’s a phony who betrayed Pan’er. Who knows Liu Yifei can be so funny when she works with a script that complements her.
Even after getting beaten, Zhou She falls right into Pan’er’s trap. He comes to the restaurant (could be a brothel) she is staying to look for her, believing she likes him for real. The guy has no self-awareness whatsoever.
Pan’er easily seduces Zhou She; and this is only the start of her plan.
In the meantime, Gu Qianfan is doing some private investigation and earns himself a new assistant along the way who is awkward but guaranteed to be loyal.
