Chen Lian is hurt more than he let on. He cries when he is alone. Awww, both he and Zhaodi are still just kids, after all. They’d better make up soon. Both are capable and sensible, think of what they can do together!
A recent investigation leads Qianfan to discover that it was his father who brought harm to Pan’er’s family, causing her to lose the life she should have had.
Qianfan doesn’t dare come see Pan’er again before his new assignment, so he’s just kind of up and leaving. The problem is, though, he promised Pan’er to lend her the money she needs for the down payment on the new restaurant. Now he doesn’t want to meet her, and for some reason also is not putting the money business on his checklist. Well, this is just irresponsible! And… a little weird, to be honest.
Couldn’t Qianfan just leave the money to Pan’er before he leaves or have someone else do it? He does come and peaks into her bedroom window that night— as normal people do… I guess — before taking off, after all.
This causes Pan’er a whole lot of trouble. She has to pawn some of her belongings and even the deed of the teahouse to get some money for the down payment. She is kind of hasty too and signs the contract with the realtor before even knowing whether Qianfan would show up on time.
Qianfan gets injured during his mission. He wakes up and find Lord Xiao tending to him. I’ve never seen anyone look so happy to see his son injured like this guy does.
It’s not because he wants Qianfan to get hurt, though; it’s because he finally gets a chance to take care of his son without getting death threats from said son.
Lord Xiao says he doesn’t oppose Qianfan’s marriage with Pan’er, as long as Qianfan acknowledges him as his father, and a bunch of other father-son stuff. I half expected Qianfan to spring up and shout for some peace and quiet because this Lord Xiao is really pushing it with the whole “I love you, son” thing. Well, this is probably his only chance anyway.
Qianfan is no angel, though, and you’ve got to love him for it. He pretends to agree with Lord Xiao about taking a rest, lies down, and waits for his father to finish talking. Once Lord Xiao is out of the room, he gets up and heads for the capital city on horseback.
In his corner, Ouyang is wasting away and I truly feel sorry for the kid who has to take care of him.
