Pan’er and Qianfan talk to each other later that day. There were gaping, confessing, flowers, twirling under the moon. Long story short, they are together now and both are pretty committed. It’s only episode 17 so I don’t expect the fluff to last.
The next day, Yinzhang gets to listen to some confessing herself. Shen Ruzuo is determined to speak his mind – he likes Yinzhang, in case anyone is still unclear — and he’s quite poetic about it.
Yinzhang is pretty straightforward with her response: I sent my former husband to jail, what do you think of that?
Ruzuo says he knows all about her past but doesn’t mind. He admires her courage in standing up for herself and starting anew after such a history. Their moment is interrupted by San-niang, but Yinzhang agrees to meet Ruzuo again and maybe play a song for him or something.
That’s got to be a big deal because Ruzuo turns from stern-scholar to giddy-schoolboy immediately.
Pan’er and Qianfan have their first date, but a series of unexpected meetings with Qianfan’s colleagues cast a shadow on their happiness because none of them look upon Pan’er with friendly eyes.
Qianfan’s evil half-brother also shows up for some… brotherly bonding, which ends up with him nearly getting his arm twisted by Qianfan.
On a regular day at Pan’er’s teahouse, a pair of pilgrims make a scene and try to tell everyone that Pan’er’s tea has poison. But Pan’er quickly defeats their amateur plan. You see, when someone is poisoned and dying in front of you, your first reaction should be: is there a doctor here? Not: arrest that shopkeeper.
It’s good that the two scholars who first supported Pan’er’s business always have her back.
COMMENTS
Even though we have Qianfan’s assurance about Shen Ruzuo, there is something off about this guy. For starters, he’s excessively sweet with words in an almost artificial way. Such behavior tends to belong to antagonists. But if that’s the case, why would the drama want to break Yinzhang’s heart again?
