RECAP
Ouyang Xu starts saying all kinds of things he believes will sweep Pan’er off her feet: I’ll make sure no one bullies you; I’ll give you everything you want; our future children can be adopted by my first and official wife. See? I’m sooo responsible.
Dude, just go back and hug your Third Place award or whatever, you’re embarrassing yourself.
Pan’er is shocked but remains calm and graceful through it all. She says to Ouyang that he overestimates himself and his overly pointy chin, breaks up with him, and walks out of there. He follows. And I kind of feel bad for the guy who stands at the restaurant entrance to give the customers back their umbrellas. Things are pretty awkward for him with two angry customers storming out.
On her way home, Pan’er runs into a group of men playing ball on the street. Not bad people, at least not yet, just rich and spoiled brats. She accidentally ruins their game but then impresses them with her own skills with the ball.
They’re funny, hopefully they’ll become Pan’er’s friends in the future.
At Gu Qianfan’s home, he caught his father giving instructions to a servant to take good care of him.
One of the other servants gets nosy and starts asking questions about Qianfan’s identity. Who can he be that the Duke (the father) cares so much about him? This earns the guy a slap in the face. Qianfan’s connection to his dad is a secret because of the drama involving his late mother.
Pan’er falls ill. Out of disappointment in the world, Yinzhang plays some music. We find out here that she is very skilled with stringed instruments.
At this time, a man comes looking for Pan’er. He doesn’t seem to be sinister, but a little dim-witted and poorly-informed. He conveys Ouyang’s message that Pan’er should be proud to be his concubine. Good thing San-niang is very well prepared for this type of shenanigan. She beats him to a pulp and kicks him down a lake nearby.
At Ouyang’s place, we get to know his future wife Lady Gao. By the look of it, she isn’t evil. But she seems very proud and demands clear communication from the people around her.
Another woman Ouyang doesn’t deserve.
