EPISODE 24
Erkang and Co. deliver the good news to Meng Dan: Hanxiang is alive and on her way to being well again.
But Meng Dan understandably isn’t able to stay calm because, still, she was forced to die brutally. Meng Dan is determined to enter the palace once again to check on Hanxiang himself.
Yongqi tries to ease the panic by saying: oh you shouldn’t worry, homie, my dad is taking gooood care of her.
Now Meng Dan is more panicky than ever.
Inside the palace, Ziwei and Xiaoyanzi stay with Hanxiang to take care of her cause it’s been proven by this point that Hanxiang’s maids aren’t very sufficient.
The emperor is especially pleased with the way his daughters are so good to Hanxiang, completely unaware that he’s about to be stabbed in the back. I mean… not that he doesn’t deserve to be robbed of Hanxiang considering what he’s done.
The girls feel very guilty.
The empress and the dowager, on the other hand, are listening to Nanny Rong talk about how Hanxiang and the two girls practice witchcraft, that’s why she could come back from the dead. But their little party is interrupted by a very angry emperor.
He is so angry that he doesn’t respond to the dowager’s inquiry after his health; and this time, he’s pretty clear: don’t touch Hanxiang again or there’ll be consequences.
He doesn’t even stop to see the dowager’s reaction. Even Qing’er is like: dang that was harsh.
Hanxiang is still only half-awake, but she is very clear about wanting to see Meng Dan for whatever reason. So Xiaoyanzi makes the guys make it happen.
They scheme together and decide to go with the plan that has worked before: dressing up Meng Dan in ugly clothes and sending him into the palace as a shaman to pray for Hanxiang’s health.
When they get to Hanxiang room, they begin dancing their little “well-wishing” dance. I’m not sure why the emperor puts up with this nonsense. He must be very desperate to see Hanxiang well again.
Also, both Meng Dan and Xiaojian stare at the emperor with unfavorable eyes when they come face to face.
This drama is really good at making you choose the emperor, even if he’s made a lot of mistakes. Most of us would watch it through the eyes of Ziwei and Xiaoyanzi and not want anything bad to happen to him. So yeah… sorry, Xiaojian and Meng Dan, you’ve got nothing on Huang-ah–ma.
Now, when the emperor stays for too long, Ziwei worries that there won’t be time for Hanxiang to see Meng Dan.
Xiaoyanzi thinks of a way, she joins the dance and begins to spray water all around. WITH HER MOUTH.
She sprays the emperor, making him all wet. I’m pretty sure the emperor only lets this slide because it’s Xiaoyanzi.
The emperor has no choice but to leave to change.
Meng Dan runs inside to see Hanxiang. The scene plays out like whenever Ziwei is sick and Erkang fawns over her, except it’s a lot less exciting.
A note to make here: Xiaojian is starting to display strange behaviors. He doesn’t go with the plan and instead recites weird poetry that’s directed at the emperor.
Good thing Erkang has none of that and tells him to stop.
The “praying session” ends successfully. The gang decides to take no more chances with Meng Dan’s emotional outbursts the danger in this palace towards Hanxiang and puts their big plan into action.
