EPISODE 30
Wudai doesn’t object to his engagement with Qingkui. He seems a little reluctant when Qingkui reminds him that she loves Chaofeng, not him, but the big bear still believes he can make Qingkui happy if she lets him try.
The hot-headed Chaofeng is about to stab somebody with a knife when Qingkui signals him to calm down and go with it for now. So he stabs a roasted chicken instead.
The Void Queen knows there’s going to be some great drama on the wedding day, so she sends one of her servants to fetch the mortal king to the Void Realm. I’m kind of excited for the drama too, though I hope nothing bad will happen to Qingkui or Haichao.
Chaofeng and Qingkui plan to escape. The Snake Princess offers to help them, she is fond of Qingkui, plus, of course, she wants Wudai for herself. She gives Chaofeng a potion that will restore his powers. Yes! Go Chaofeng. We’re going to need some brain and some deviousness in this desperate situation.
Haichao asks Chaofeng if his gift to the Snake Princess the other day was so she would help him in return. Chaofeng denies it. But we’ll never know, it sounds like something he would do. Although, it’s kind of hilarious that Haichao would never believe Chaofeng’s hands are clean in any situation.
Biqiong suspects Yetan keeps secrets, so she turns into a grape and slips into Yetan’s room to investigate. She overhears Yetan talking to Qingkui on the sea-flower phone and understands everything.
Through their conversation, Yetan fears that something bad will happen to Qingkui so she runs to ask Youqin for help. Because Youqin’s punishment still hasn’t expired, he gives Yetan a token and tells her to get Erlang, the three-eyes god, he should be able to help.
While Yetan is out, Manman discovers that the sea-flower phone is lost and runs to Dilanjue, interrupting his animal-language lesson with Ziwu, and asks him to do something.
They all find Biqiong and demand the phone back, but the girl starts yelling in front of the court that Yetan is an imposter. So now we will have to listen to the Heaven King talk and talk about how law and order have been breached. Thanks, Biqiong.
Yetan has to face the court. She doesn’t deny her mistake and even tells the truth about her moment of weakness: she was about to tell the truth, but the feud between the Heaven and the Void Realm made her fear for her life. Then she let herself indulge in everyone’s love here because that is something she had never had. What a brave girl.
Good thing Youqin’s siblings and the three friendly deities are all on her side. They all love her even if she roasted an entire bull for lunch. Plus, you can’t change what has been decided by the Bridge of Love. By the way, are these three deities the only ones whose voices matter? What about the rest of the court?
Anyway, not that anyone’s opinion matters because the Heaven King is determined to blame somebody for his failures with Youqin, and Yetan is an easy target. He says she ruins his relationship (that he never had) with Youqin.
But out there, Youqin breaks out of his timeout prison and arrives just in time to stop the Heaven King from locking Yetan up.
Youqin resigns (again) right there. He says that since Yetan gave him his life, he will live for her from now on. Give him his life. Okay, Youqin, I will give you from now till the end of the drama to amend that statement and tell us again to whom you owe your life – hint: it’s more than one person. If you don’t, I won’t be pulling my punches.
The Heaven King is so angry he strikes Youqin. But Youqin proceeds out of the hall with Yetan.
“Wasn’t I cool?” He asks Yetan.
Depends on your perspective.
